Plus, its real-time analytics enable swift decision-making and quick reactions to market changes, all under the umbrella of Microsoft’s renowned security.
Our expert colleagues took Microsoft Fabric for a spin, and we would like to share their professional insights and discoveries with you. In this first article, part of a dedicated series, we bring in front of you:
Muhammad Shehzad – Enterprise Solutions Architect
Microsoft Fabric is an all-in-one analytics solution for enterprises that covers everything from data movement to data science, Real-Time Analytics, and business intelligence. It offers a comprehensive suite of services, including data lake, data engineering, and data integration, all in one place.
Some might see this as a marketing stunt by Microsoft, however as you start to dive in, it is easy to realize that Microsoft has worked ground up to make this a unique product with a whole new mindset, bundled with a tech stack that an organization can build on, pretty much anything and at any time.
One scalable platform with One license i.e., OneLake and OneSecuriy, with Serverless Compute
The foundation of Fabric is One Lake, a central storage solution built on ADLS, with fast read/write capabilities based on the Delta Parquet format. The part I love about this is that Microsoft handles all of it independently in an automated background process. OneSecurity makes it pretty darn easy to implement and govern access. Serverless computing means the resources are shared, and you only pay for what you use (based on SKUs and Capacity Units).
The hot features like Lakehouse (Read Only SQL Endpoint) and Warehouse (Read/Write SQL Endpoints) are breakthroughs. Spin up databases in a few seconds, assign them to the workspace, get an automated dataset that doesn’t need any refresh, and access the databases via SQL Server Management Studio, just as any Azure SQL database. Cherry on the cake, Warehouse, and Lakehouse can talk to each other via SQL Views.
To summarize, Microsoft Fabric is a mindset and a commitment that would provide organizations with a unified product experience, computing & storage, governance & security, and a complete business model.”
